In 2008 after working in pharmaceutical sales for over 10 years Donald Sargent Was suddently laid off due to the slow down of the economy. Donald was faced with a decision to either hit the streets interviewing for other pharmaceutical jobs or do something that he always loved as a kid. Make ice cream.

Morelli's opened its doors in April of 2008. Donald and wife Clarissa Morelli's goal was simple; create the best and most unique ice cream in the city. Within a few short weeks Morelli's Ice Cream had become the new summer craze in Atlanta.

Food critic upon food critic had ventured out to this small walkup ice cream parlor in East Atlanta to critique their product. At the end of 2009 Morelli's was named the 4th best ice cream shop in America (Bon Appétit Magazine/2009) As well as winning best of Atlanta categories by Atlanta Magazine and Creative Loafing (2008/2009/2010 & 2011).
